Makua (Adult/Parent) is symbolic of ‘āina (land). Much like ʻāina, nā makua (adults/parents) can be seen as respectable, hardworking, detail-oriented, stable, reliable, cautious, punctual, and practical. In addition, ʻāina represents grounding, the foundation for life, and family roots.

To support the grounding of self, we are honored to have Dr. Kekoa and Pele Harman, a husband-and-wife duo from Hawaiʻi, spread awareness about indigenous culture, language, and traditional practices, thru Hula (Dance), Lomilomi (Massage), and Laʻau Lapaʻau (Healing with Whole Foods).

Kekoa Harmon, recipient of a doctoral degree in Hawaiian and Indigenous Language and Culture Revitalization, with his ‘ohana.

We also welcome Wendell Navalta, a University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa alumni with over 30 years of martial arts experience and owner of Mana Personal Training, LLC here in Sykesville, Maryland, who will share meditative practices to center mind, body, and spirit.

Attend our upcoming seminar to learn ʻōiwi Hawaiʻi (native Hawaiian) practices to support a healthy mind, body, and spirit as we prepare ourselves for colder temperatures here on the east coast. Register today!

We MAHALO our sponsors Nakupuna Foundation, Nakupuna Companies, KAIA, and Papa Ola Lokahi for making this event possible!
