E Ala E Hawaiian Cultural Center’s very first ʻAha ʻOhana series featuring ʻōpio (young adult) was a success! The purpose of the workshop was to help college students transition into their careers. Some topics that were covered were always working with aloha, owning your career path, early decisions for a prosperous future, “mindset is everything,” life goals, presenting your brand, and maximizing your hireability. A professional photographer was on hand to take headshots to enhance portfolios. The seminar was free to all students and Hawaiian plate lunches were served. Here are a few attendee impressions:
“I really enjoyed the financial planning/advice. I feel it’s a really important conversation for us to have as students, and it’s one that’s not often discussed in school or at home.” - T. Williams (Clemson)
“I appreciated the financial section a lot; it was very applicable. Also appreciated the “Mindset is Everything” segment; a lot of valuable lessons.” - A. Fisher (GT)
“I loved the diversity of topics that were discussed. I especially loved the talk from Coti Haia and learning what a Hawaiian perspective has to offer on the Hill.” - K. Rowe (GW)
We are grateful to all presenters and volunteers who made this event possible. We look forward to building more opportunities for our ʻōpio in the years to come.
